Sledge Riding? Why Not?

Hey, it’s still Winter officially. Put aside all your things, you’ve been doing and let’s go…sledge riding. Yep, you’ve heard me correct. And if you haven’t got any snow, well, then you’ll just need to imagine it, like I do. Imagine also a hill…not too big of a hill, not a mountain, not an Everest. But a reasonably hilly hill. And once you’ve done with imagining, let me push you off the edge. Hold on tight to your sledge, or they’ll arrive to the bottom without you. so…the sledge start moving…at first they’ll be doing it slow, as if trying out what that hill business is all about…then the speed will gradually increase and – look – you’re already sliding with all the slidiness your sledge could develop! Woo-hoo! Watch out for those bumps on your way, for if you accidentally ride over one, you might find yourself jumped into the air and while this could be a pleasing sensation, the landing back on your backside might cause few bruising, especially if you’ll miss your sledge…but isn’t it a thrill to be carried downhill at a speed that you can’t control!? When the only way to stop is to jump off the sledge, when you rush through the clouds of snowdust, unable to see where are you heading?!…But this way how would you know what awaits you at the end of your slide, at the bottom of your hill…I would advise you to hold tight, to scream with excitement all along the way and try not to fall off your sledge before they stop. And if you liked it, lets run back to the top and try it again! Nothing better for a thrilling experience then a speedy slide downhill.

Of course, there is a moral in this. But I’ve got tired typing all this, so I’ll let you figure out for yourself.

Oh, and one last advice on winter’s fun: if you wish to try out the toboggans, especially, those round ones, the ones that look like UFO, don’t do it on the icy slides unless you want to get completely disoriented, get your bum bruised so you can’t sit and generally feel like being sent into the open space with no hope for landing back to Earth in one piece.

  2. oh good memories.. thanks..

when I was a kid.. dad use to pack me and baby bro up in the car.. snow suit all bundled up.. till I don’t know how I could breath.. but once up to the hills, *(I think we either went to a foothill canyon, or a golf course) Dad would unlock the old sleighs from the trunk and trudge up the hill with us both in toe.. Mom stayed in the car.. she got way too cold.

I had one of those sleighs that you can lay down on and guide with your hands. It would turn left or right. no brake.. You just went.. and it had to metal slats on the sides.. you remember?? When you get bigger you can actually sit on the sleigh, and steer with your feet.. but I was not that big.. I remember making friends while dragging my sleigh back up the hill after a good fun ride.. waiting for our turn at the hills summit.. and just watching for a good place to launch off.. or waiting to find brother.. Who was 3 yrs younger. I made friends so easy.. and cried when I couldn’t find them again

Oh those were such good days..

I took my granddaughter Konni sleighridding and kody too.. We use to go to the school yard out west in ocher mts.. and also up the canyon .. way up ..

I have memories of Kody’s first time up in the mts on a board.. He snow boards.. like ski’s but a board.. It is now Olympic event

Oh my gosh. It has been 4 yrs since we hosted the winter Olympics here in Utah.. now this year it is in Toronto. Canada..

I loved that.. 2002 What fun that was.. they just opened up our city for that.. I mean you could even get a beer on the street

by the way.. your email came through both ways.. so glitch is fixed

    hahaha

    big hug for memory

    peg

    happy sledding.

  3. I saw your George last night, winning an award for Sexiest American Former-Fake-Doctor. He was lookin’ good, although I’m sure everyone was wondering where’s GORAN VISNJIC’s award??? I guess they don’t give awards for Sexiest Croatian Current-Fake-Doctor. Ah well, I can wait til Thursday to see him.
