More On Card

Orson Scott Card is an American writer. You can read more about him and his works here . His writings have been introduced to me by someone else (Thank You! :-)) I must admit, Sci-Fi was never really my bookshelf’s belongings. But this one…Normally I would read a story and somewhere in the middle, if lucky (or in the beginning of it) I would already predict how it will end. And if the story wouldn’t hold any meanings apart from plot, I’d just lose interest.

With Card’s stories this is different. You think, you know what will happened in the end, but when you’ll get to the end, it’s all different. Although, this last one, Xenocide, appeared to be much more predictable…perhaps that’s why I liked it less then the other two…

His short stories are good as well (if interested, you can read them from same site )

  1. I have a full book shelf of books I can’t wait to read but don’t make the time to. I have never heard of that author, but then……I like suspense novels.

  2. I’ve never read any of Card’s books either. I too have a bookshelf filled with my industrious intentions to read… I used to be an avid reader, and consumed books like nothing else… then I went to grad school, and the joy of reading was beaten out of me. I do still enjoy reading, but I don’t find that I get as entralled in books as I used to, and so I have trouble finishing a book once I start.

Whenever I read your entries about books, it always inspires me to try to pick up another book… maybe I’ll get back into it again someday.

  3. I had wanted to read his Women of Genesis.. Rebekah, Rachael & Leah and Sarah.

Have you read any of these 3? The Racheal and Leah gets the most praise from the reviews I have seen.

Just wondering if he would do a woman character justice as usually his central characters are men.

How’s the new curtains? You didn’t tell us about them..
