Moscow Bonus

Moscow happened to us in transit. Literally. We had 4 hours between connection flights and we wasted them on the visit to The Red Square. Again, what could possibly be said about the place well known to the whole world? Just look at the pictures that illustrate why exactly the Square has got her Red title.

Dress code for those visiting Red Square....[*not really, but I bet I've got you here]

St. Basil's Cathedral. Was built in 1555. The poor guy architect has been blinded after finishing the construction, so that he couldn't build another similar wonder. that was tsar Ivan The Terrible, who did that.

The State Historical Museum of Russia. Built in 1875.

Kazan Cathedral. Built in 1630. in 1936 it was completely destroyed under the order of Stalin. then, in 1990 completely rebuilt again.

The Nikolskaya Tower of the Kremlin.

Typical postcard view...well, this one is that famous The Spasskaya Tower with the main state clock, which apparently, was installed the same time as the tower was built - in 1490-1580.

  1. beautiful russian svetlana

I think you write beautifully my friend weaving poetry through your words

you cant mean this there is more to tell just keep writing about it over the next few months from time to time over the next few years

I just love the colour of the redsquare this bright red it really seems that the city streets are like veins running to this pulsating scarlet heart of the city

I am so used to drab colours in architecture in my country this red invites the square to speak of its history

maybe someday you can write about your thoughts and feelings there and the history yes tell me about this in my journal

    ew I can hardly wait

the guards look so strappingly red like they are ready to dance

I love the variety of the onion shaped domes it gives me the striking impression that they grow naturally form the landscape

they have an organic look that our dreary rectangular shaped buildings dont have

  2. gosh you actually saw all these by your own eyes???? sorry but i have to confess of all the pics that hunk of a russian guard tops them all. tee hee. thanks for sharing the travelogue. your home country is so beautiful and picturesque. yes, now i believe that you were born in a paradise.

    🙂

  3. As always your travel log was exquisite..

You should write a book and submit it to travel publishers..

really .. you are so good with words.. and don’t even say about not native tongue.. cuz you are better at english than I am.. and amazing to me how you know a total different alphabet and language .. both to read – write and speak.. More than 2 at that

My question is this: how did you not get in the pix with that doll of a guard? Yummy.. What a hunk.. ~ seems he had a special smile for you!!!!!

Also.. What language do you dream in????

  4. I agree your presentation would be a beautiful travel log

like you say you dont wish to present everything now so what you do present is so essentially and beautifully russian

    and I also admire you

I dont think that most readers realize that you have three languages and each one with a different alphabet

    beautiful my friend thankyou

ps like the other girls I am not drooling over the guards hee hee but I am drooling over read square and will have to read about it
