So…3.5 hours on a plane to Moscow. Catching up connection flight for another 4 hours to Kazakhstan. By the time we’ll get there it will be Saturday already…and after *hopefully* successful landing there will be endless meetings, lines of relatives and friends, walking familiar streets with the names I can’t remember, calling upon memories of the childhood and being surprised to see how things changed while we were not there…dreams of finding classmates, anticipation for the wonders of nature to bring us in awe…how many places stayed the same, I wonder? The time gap is 13 years. That’s how long ago I’ve been there for the last time. Surely one can expect amazing changes…and even maybe overwhelming and tiring as well. For we will walk the streets we used to walk with different perspectives and we will see the faces of people whom we remember young, being wrinkled with the traces of time past…we might stumble face to face upon some memories we forgot they exist. Bittersweet or plain painful…sentiments are puzzling…the wish to go and the wish to stay…am I afraid of facing my own past?…will it all be worth it? I will only tell when I return…Until then…a wish for those who stay: Remember To Smile. And To Love Yourself. Be well. And I’ll be back 😉
I hope it’s a brilliant experience! Or – when you read this – that it WAS!
